canuum
canuum is a canna client (see section 6.2.1)which talks directly to the cannaserver, without using xim.
canuum can be used to input japanese into a japanese capable terminal emulator like mlterm, kterm, rxvt, or fbiterm (on a framebuffer linux console)
you start the canuum client like
~$ canuum -u
the option ``-u'' is usually needed to tell canuum that the terminal it is running in uses euc-jp encoding) the default key combination which switches between japanese and english mode is ``control-o'', but this can be changed (see section 6.2.1.3).
