wxg
wxg is a kana-kanji conversion server using the canna communication protocol. wxg is compatible to nec's kana-kanji conversion server "canna" and can therefore be talk to canna clients like kinput2, canuum, and xemacs. it can be used as a direct replacement for canna.
however, wxg uses the same port as canna and can therefore not run concurrently with canna, you can run either wxg or canna, not both at the same time.
to get more information about the wxg input server, please have a look at http://www.ekotoba.com
wxg is not free software, but if you accept the license conditions explained at this web-site it can be downloaded free of charge for personal use (binaries for i386 only).
if you want to use wxg, you should probably also install the suse rpm wxg-init.rpm which contains an init script and an /etc/rc.config entry for wxg to make automatic starting of wxg during booting easy. wxg-init.rpm does not contain wxg itself, only the init script. you can get wxg itself only from http://www.ekotoba.com!
wxg has some advantages compared to canna but some disadvantages as well. for example the conversion quality of wxg is a bit better than canna's, but radical input is not possible with wxg.
